BELL'O AVSC2051MC Low Boy Style Audio / Video System ( Cherry Finish ) Review

BELL'O AVSC2051MC Low Boy Style Audio / Video System ( Cherry Finish )
Average Reviews:

Quality item. Assembly is a breeze and comes with the only tools you will need (an allen wrench and plastic screwdriver). A little disappointed in the cable managment system. It seems they could offer a choice in putting it in the left side instead of the right side, but really would be nice if it were in both sides and even in the horrizontal support tubes.

Salamander Archetype 5.0 (Cherry) Review

Salamander Archetype 5.0 (Cherry)
Average Reviews:

I got this stand in Cherry color from Amazon for $225 and I think it is a very good deal. Waited for the following weekend, as I knew it would take some time to assemble it. It did take about 1 hour to get it assembled and leveled. But once assembled and setup correctly you are rewarded with a increase in resolution and imaging. I wanted a decent component stand and did not expect the sound to change - for good. The images were placed more precisely and the holography of my system did increase a bit. The music seems more focused now compared to the make shift TV stand my components were placed on. This could be because of the Mega Spikes I installed on this stand, which gives it more stability and looks better. For the price I paid, I certainly will recommend fellow audio enthusiasts. I got a deal on the Megaspikes - $25. This is the lowest I have seen on them anywhere!! Highly recommended :-)

BDI Marina 8729-2, Triple Wide Enclosed Cabinet ( Gloss White) Review

BDI Marina 8729-2, Triple Wide Enclosed Cabinet ( Gloss White)
Average Reviews:

There is a big difference between TV stands and TV furniture, this is the latter.
Be advised this unit is BIG and HEAVY, even with the hidden wheels its tough to move fully loaded on carpet (as expected). Ventilation is good, not great, gear still gets hot. IR not affected by the glass.
All my gear fits inside with room to spare, Xbox 360, PS3, AVR (had amp and pre-pro in before, Wii, center channel, network hub and NAS, could easily fit a cable box + something else inside. Good wire management.
Doors will need adjustment upon arrival as noted in the manual, not difficult at all.
Fingerprint magnet! Gloss white probably not so much.
I'll assume this is just MDF with really nice glass and finish, which is too bad (unless it holds up) given the pricetag...but it was the only one that I liked the look of. I'm certain you could find something cheaper but equally nice.

I love this furniture. It goes together with no additional tools and quick. I built this table in less than a half hour. It's sturdy and the perfect size shelves for the big amp that goes to my home theater. You can also buy another shelf level for a taller unit. The holes predrilled in the back of the shelves are perfect for a wire route so everything is nice and neat.

Bell'O PR-12 Chic European Wood Audio/Video Cabinet (Deep Brown Finish) Review

Bell'O PR-12 Chic European Wood Audio/Video Cabinet (Deep Brown Finish)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Being that the flat-panel television market has exploded over the past decade, and increasingly so over the past several years, there is clearly an increasing demand for well-made, well-designed products able to hold TV's, receivers and home theater components. What's even more important is for these products to look nice, compete with pricey offerings from Pottery Barn, West Elm and Restoration Hardware, all while hiding cables and other tell-tale signs that the equipment producing great sound and imagery are tucked away, far out of sight and out of mind.
Bell'o is a company that has been designing solid rack-based stereo furniture for awhile; I've seen their products mentioned alongside Salamander and other respected brands.
So when I purchased a 46" Samsung and I needed a place to hide my Denon monster-sized receiver, a cable box, a DVD player, a Blu-Ray player, an X-Box, a power conditioner and a few other odds and ends, I began searching for something not only that could accommodate all this equipment (not only weight but size/dimensions), but would and could do so while looking good and not offend my family's stylistic sensibilities.
I found that anything I came across that could handle these components and their requisite cables, etc., was over $2,000. I simply couldn't afford to buy the television and a cabinet that expensive.
Enter Bell'o.
The company markets several large cabinets, including this item, the PR-12. Their cabinets are smartly designed -- the shelves are adjustable (height-wise), the rear of the cabinets can be removed temporarily (for access to rear panels for wiring and replacement) or permanently (for heat dissipation). So far, so good.
The back of the cabinet panels are designed in such a way that you can have the cables run from one end to the other of the cabinet without them being out and about (in other words, unseen). This is "cable management." It sort of works -- you can have bulky HDMI and speaker cables run along these channels so they're not visible.
And finally, the shelves and part of the front and bottoms of the cabinet have holes/vents in them both for cable routing and for airflow. Very nice, thoughtful design.
Too bad all of this smart, creative design is wasted on poor, awful, miserably bad construction and materials.
This cabinet -- which cost three times what something similar from Ikea would cost -- is made from particle board and what feels like paper. The first shipped cabinet I received from Amazon was in such awful shape that when I attempted to remove it from my apartment it fell apart and had to be removed in an industrial-size wheeled garbage bin. I should have learned my lesson then, but I didn't.
I ordered another to replace the refunded purchase price for this pile of glue and posterboard.
And unfortunately, another one survived and reached me unscathed. Meaning, I opted to keep it.
Big mistake.
The mid-cabinet feet, which are adjustable, somehow managed to come loose and the underside sockets in the cabinet where they were screwed in were somehow ripped out. Meaning, two big areas of damage underneath the cabinet. Meaning, the cabinet won't properly support its own weight and, eventually, the whole thing will crack in half like a match stick -- which, incidentally, is about as strong and load-bearing as this cabinet.
Of course, one would think -- spending $800 or so for a cabinet -- that the manufacturer would stand behind its product.
They sure do -- they're about as trustworthy as Bernie Madoff.
So after spending $800+ on an Ikea-quality cabinet, I had to spend another $150 to get a local carpenter to build something for below the cabinet to insure it wouldn't collapse into and onto itself.
And every time I move it to access the rear panel to tweak wiring or to make sure everything is set up properly, I cringe.
And every time I consider moving, I wonder if this piece of garbage will survive the move. Actually, that's not true -- I don't wonder -- I know it won't.
Save yourself the trouble and the money and either a) buy something half the price of this garbage so you don't feel swindled and regret the purchase hours after it arrives, or b) spend enough money to get something made of actual wood and not posterboard, paper and glue. It's certainly painful having to spend as much if not moreso on the cabinet housing a pricey new TV, but consider that putting your faith in a piece of garbage like this to house your expensive equipment -- and that shiny new TV -- will leave you wondering whether it will, while you go out to earn a salary, collapse onto itself and send all that expensive gear crashing onto the floor while you're out.
I wish I had the benefit of a real review of this cabinet and this company before I agreed to purchase something from them; assuming you are still willing to purchase something from them -- this or anything else featuring "wood" (eg wood-veneer-covered paper) -- when you wind up having to toss the disintegrated remains of their product(s) from your house/apartment, keep repeating the phrase "caveat emptor" and find something made with real wood that doesn't squander great design with chicanery and disingenuous build "quality."
And remind yourself that you not only get what you pay for, sometimes you pay far more than what you get.

This Salamander Designs rack is very well made and looks great. It takes a few hours to assemble, but the result is nicer than most home theater furniture out there. Unfortunately, Amazon's shipping (via UPS) didn't go so well and the outer box arrived in very bad shape. I was hoping that the inner box would protect the item, but, alas, one of the two doors was damaged. I'm now trying to get Amazon to replace the door, but they can only exchange the whole unit. The shipping box is completely destroyed, so I've been forced to contact the manufacturer directly. Crossing my fingers...

This is a beautiful piece of furniture - nice color and wood finish, far more attractive and substantial than most cheap TV stands you find at local electronics stores. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend that this item be purchased from Amazon. Mine arrived today with 3 obvious damaged areas to the wood on the front and top of the piece - not where you could ignore it. Beware - if you want to return a damaged item such as this, you will have to pay the return shipping costs, which are substantial. As a long time loyal customer of Amazon, I'm shocked by this policy. I could have ordered this at a local furniture store where the return wouldn't have cost me a dime, but went for the quick shipping and very slight cost advantage at Amazon. Big mistake.

We purchased this BDI tv table, and it is made very well and looks great! We like that it can be easily moved to any position for viewing in a room. The darker glass on bottom holds all your extra units (DVD, Cable box, etc.) and hides all wires neatly in the back of the unit. It is a tall unit, and a nice alternative to drilling a hole in your wall to mount a flatscreen tv.

BDI 8127 60" Meriden Series TV Stand - Espresso on Oak Review

BDI 8127 60 Meriden Series TV Stand - Espresso on Oak
Average Reviews:

This is the perfect stand for my 52 inch Aquos. It looks modern and very stylish. It simply is a solid, beautiful, well crafted and functional piece of furniture worth every penny.
It's delivered almost fully assembled. All that needs to be done is attaching the legs, arrange shelving as well as the covers at the back. All very easy.
A welcome feature are the high quality wheels which are integrated in the legs. They allow easy back and forth moving to arrange wires or for cleaning. Integrated in the legs are stabilisers for uneven floors.
If you are looking to have a stand out of the ordinary that is a true eye catcher with elegance, this is the piece to go for. I have done quite a bit of research and could not find anything comparable. Go for it and enjoy it! (I have the cherry finish)

Bell'O PR-11 Contemporary Espresso Finish Wood Audio/Video Cabinet Review

Bell'O PR-11 Contemporary Espresso Finish Wood Audio/Video Cabinet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This unit appealed to me for several reasons:
-Enclosed cabinet to minimize dust from settling onto components.
-Large smoked glass doors to view and remote control components.
-Ventilated shelving.
-Slotted shelves and easily removable back panels to facilitate maintenance, cable management and component access.
-Finish, while not an exact match, mostly blends in with existing furniture.
The unit is heavy and seems solidly constructed. While it's not constructed with true solid woods (it has "wood solids" and veneers), I am more than satisfied with the construction quality and finish and the price seems appropriate. I actually ordered the PR-12 model the first time, which I had to return immediately due to the damage it incurred from shipping with FedEx, which despite the hassle, I guess was a good thing, because I decided the PR-11 was a better match anyway. The PR-11 was delivered with the "white glove" service professionally, quickly, and without damage from CEVA. This unit comes in a large box with lots of styrofoam and super-hard cardboard pieces to protect the edges. There were a few very minor spots where some stain was missing and no stain pen was included as reviewers have mentioned for other Bell'o products, so I emailed them requesting one so I can touch it up and make it perfect. But as I said, they are very minor and not in very noticeable spots -- the unit arrived in great shape. You will most likely have to spend some time adjusting the glass doors to align them better than they come out of the box, and as much as I enjoy tinkering with things, I would have preferred these were aligned properly at the factory.
Overall, for a "Made in China" product, this is a great TV cabinet that does not appear or feel cheap in any way and has met all my expectations.
***Update***
My shipment DID come with a touch-up pen. As we were preparing to throw out the shipping box, we found the pen in a small red plastic bag. We also discovered a couple more of the round feet that were loose within all the packing materials, so inspect everything thoroughly before concluding something's missing and tossing out the packaging.
***Update #2***
If you intend to place your center channel speaker in the center shelf behind the built-in speaker screen, you should remove the speaker's own grille if possible, otherwise that center channel audio is making its way through two sets of screens: it's own + the cabinet's. I compared how my center channel speaker sounded with the cabinet's center door open and closed, and with it closed, it definitely sounded different, with a *slight* muffling of the audio clarity when the door is closed. I removed the grille from my Polk Audio center channel speaker and am very satisfied with the overall sound clarity.

BDI Cirrus 8157 Double Wide Enclosed Cabinet - Natural Stained Cherry Review

BDI Cirrus 8157 Double Wide Enclosed Cabinet - Natural Stained Cherry
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Got this in a few days ago -- It was my first time ordering something this large, heavy and expensive from Amazon; but really, everything was up to par and I am pleased with the product.
Delivery came as scheduled via Pilot Delivery service -- there was only one delivery person, who was friendly & helpful, but I did help him with getting the piece off the truck and into in the house -- the main outside box was pretty banged up, but in internally the piece was damage free, hallelujah!
The stand itself it quite pricey, at approx. one thousand big ones, but the features and build quality are quite nice. After searching for well over a month for something decently built, no particle board or cheap finished wood, that could fit a 60" plasma, a center channel speaker of over 7", a large Denon receiver, and the other usual components; I really had a difficult time finding anything for under a G.

I believe (from what I've read and seem myself) this unit is made of solid wood, but I can't be 100% sure. It's heavy as all heck and feels quite solid with a 60 plasma TV on top. I've even also sat on the stand with the TV on it, just to test if it's truly stable, and no problems (I'm also 180lbs).
Dark Espresso color is beautiful and I could not find one imperfection / damage to the finish. The middle rack is supporting center speaker weighing about 25 lbs -- no problem on middle rack. As for assembly, not bad at all -- main unit is fully assembled and solid. The only things needed to do is to attach & assemble the legs, and doors. Took me no more than a hour, if that -- quite simple -- included directions were clear enough. All pieces and tools were provided & everything fit properly and securely; nothing fely loose fitting or out of place etc.
Some features which worked for me were the nice deep shelving -- solid enough to hold major pieces of AV stuff. Adjustable shelves on both the sides and middle, Side shelf width is adequate -- although the Denon receiver (3310) had less than 1" clearance on the sides. Cutting it a bit close but worked fine.
Bottom shelving has heat cut outs -- nice feature for the AV receive which generate lots of heat.. The legs have wheels to allow the unit to be puched back and forth with minimal effort -- very handy feature. Additionally, the two back panels can come off which is very handy if you need extra ventilation / space for cables.
As for negatives -- not many to report, thankfully-- I wish this piece had a wire hole drilled in the center back, but I suppose if needed, this could be done quite easily. Other BDI pieces also look very nice (some maybe even better in quality), but the prices just keep getting north of here if you want real wood, etc. At this price point, I cannot fault this item and look forward to many years of solid service.

I have this stand for my 73" Mitz and although it's supposed to be for up to a 65" TV it works and looks great. The screen does extend about 1 1/2" beyond the stand on each side but it looks fine and is certainly more than sturdy enough. The cherry and black looks "classy". As opposed to the other reviewer I found the instructions and assembly excellent & straight forward. Mine was purchased locally and delivered by the retailer. It IS quite heavy. Was going to bring it home myself in our mini-van. Glad I didn't!

Omnimount Echo A3 Echo Component Tower Review

Omnimount Echo A3 Echo Component Tower
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was very excited about this product for its price, but after reading the other customer reviews, I was a bit leery. I bought it anyway, figuring that I could just really take my time and care in assembling it.
A few other reviewers mention that this shelf unit is difficult to assemble. I couldn't disagree with them more. It took me all of 25 minutes to unwrap, lay out the pieces, and put the thing together. It's all pegs and holes, reinforced with two long rods that run down the sides keeping everything secure. I'm kind of crazy when it comes to my stereo equipment, and I wouldn't tolerate a product that I felt was not going to protect my stuff. Assembled, this unit is sturdy and I have no concern about my electronics.
One other reviewer mentioned that the veneer is fragile and easily chipped. I was particularly careful on this point while assembling, and as long as you're careful and not rushing, you should be fine. The veneer is not of the highest quality, and I can certainly see how it would chip or scratch if you're shoving your cable box in there, or letting heavy cable ends bang around on it, but just keep this in mind and you'll be fine.
Among the positives:
--Price: the quality of this product competes with your standard mall-based/brick and mortar home stores (see my list below), but at half or 1/3 the price. Plus, with my Amazon Prime membership, I got 1-day delivery for $6.99. That's amazing for a 65lb box!!
--Attractive: the dark finish is nice and more or less matches all of my other furniture (mostly Crate & Barrel dark wood pieces). I would imagine that it would basically fit in with most chocolate/espresso/dark wood finishes on your standard mid-range furniture (Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Target, etc).
--Exceptionally well designed: for the last two years, I've been using a media stand from C&B, which I hated. It did its job, but I could not put my components in the shelf AND install the glass doors; both my receiver and cable box were too deep for the so-called media stand. After deciding to ditch that monster (its footprint in my living room was too big for my new, smaller apartment) and mount my TV, I was looking at all kinds of much more expensive items than the Echo A3. I looked at Target, C&B, West Elm, all those places, and the same problem kept coming up: not deep enough for my 19" deep receiver. When I saw this on Amazon, I was really happy to see that it was deep enough to accommodate real stereo equipment. My receiver, my DVR, and my blu-ray player all fit in perfectly; in fact, there's room to spare, so all my cables and wires are not shoved up against the wall in back of the unit. In addition, along the back sides, top, and bottom, there is a fairly deep groove in which you can run your cables, more or less hiding them from view and preventing that rat's nest of wires typical of home theater set-ups. The unit comes with covers that snap into these grooves, providing a good and realistic cable management system that minimizes how many cables you can see through the shelves. If you have a very basic set up, you could likely hid all your cables in there; I have enough wires and cables running around that I can still see a few of them, but only if I really look.
--Happy Surprises: as you can see from the pictures, the legs, which are about 2" high, are chrome, and they include these covers that snap into the bottom of the leg. Not only does this plastic foot finish the legs nicely, but much to my happy surprise, it allows the whole unit, fully loaded, to slide on carpet! If I need to switch a plug, add a component, or whatever, I can just carefully slide the thing from wall without jeopardizing its legs' integrity, without over exerting myself at all, or without needing any help. This is excellent, and coupled with the cable management system, and the generous depth of its shelves, speaks volumes to Omnimount's thoughtful design. I was also ready for a pretty involved assembly based on the other reviews, but this was so easy to put together. Just be aware: when you put the pegs in the top and bottom sides, after having assembled the sides to the shelves, only put the pegs in the two center holes, not all four. You'll see what I mean, but I had to get my pliers to pull one of the dowels out that I put in the wrong place...so, add 2min to my assembly.
--Size: the footprint of this shelf unit is very compact, and for a smaller space it's ideal. It's not so high that can't mount your TV above it, not is it so wide that it's all you can put along a given wall. It's the perfect size for an apartment, a minimalist decor scheme, or a bedroom. I have this shelf, a magazine organizer, my subwoofer, and room to spare for a large vase, a plant, or, actually, even a bookshelf on this wall. I'm putting the TV above the fireplace, so I was also have room for some art above the unit. Sweet!
Complaints:
--Veneer: you do need to be careful setting it up so as not to damage the finish, but as long as you know this going in (thanks to the other reviewer who mentioned this!), you're golden.
--3 shelves: obviously I knew when buying the product that it only had three shelves, but I didn't really think this through. I have a DVR, receiver, blu-ray, and Wii to hook up. I have had to put my Wii on top of my blu-ray, which is no big deal, and I could easily set the Wii on the top of the unit, but I'm trying to move to a more clutter-free life, so I need to save the top for decor, and not let the shelf become a place of netflix envelopes, Wii cases, and whatever else I decide to put up there till I get to it (read: bills). Basically, just think about the fact that there are three shelves and a top. If you've got a DVR, a game system, DVD, tuner, CD player, and more, you might want to think about a different shelf, or get two. I am certainly that I could stack my components on top of each other (say, blu-ray on DVR) in one shelf--there is plenty of room, as these shelves are deep and high--but I would be worried a bit about sufficient ventilation for the components.
--Space underneath: my last complaint is that there is only a few inches of space under the unit. This is fine, because it's attractive like that, but my surge-protector won't fit underneath it with the plugs plugged in. So, I have placed my power-strip along one side of the shelf and hidden it behind my magazine organizer (I could have put it behind my subwoofer, too, or whatever. Just know that you're not likely to be able to slide a power strip with plugs under it unless all of your plugs are slim-profile type. None of my are, of course.
In the end, I just can't find a reason not to give this product 5 stars at this price. If it were $399, I'd be bellyaching more about the negatives, but for $150, you don't get solid oak. Surprise, surprise. Enjoy this great product.

Bell'O WAVS-341 Bent Wood Audio Video Cabinet (Espresso Finish) Review

Bell'O WAVS-341 Bent Wood Audio Video Cabinet (Espresso Finish)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When was the last time you bought something, and found it to be much better than you would have expected? Here's your chance. The Bell'o WAVS-341 is a beautifully constructed example of function, style and craftsmanship of a quality that is hard to find at any price. I recommend this unit and the Bell'o brand wholeheartedly, and suggest that anyone who has been disappointed at the quality or aesthetics of the typical box-store television stand give Bell'o a good look. Add to this the fact that you can easily pay more for an unattractive, disposable-quality stand, and this piece is an amazing value.
We picked the Bell'o WAVS-341 television stand after an exhaustive online and brick-and-mortar search for a well-made, solid cabinet with clean lines and a bit of style. After perusing cheap particle board junk at a well-known Swedish furniture outlet we normally like and $1,800 particle board junk in the local department store, and finding nothing that even seemed functional, we found the Bell'o line on the Internet and were immediately impressed.
We liked the solid wood construction and the mid-century modern look of the bent wood frame and legs of the WAVS-341, and found the lowest price by about $100 here on Amazon. We ordered it, and it has exceeded our highest expectations.
The unit came packed beautifully in a large *heavy* box and arrived in perfect condition. As mentioned,it's a big heavy thing (something like 180 lbs.) that FedEx brought to my door using a pallet and pallet jack, so expect to need some help getting inside, or open the box where it is and carry the individual pieces inside.
Assembly took some time and some care, and really requires two people due to some complexity in aligning everything when assembling the bent wood pieces. I managed it on my own, but was lucky not to bung up the finish. However, all of the necessary hardware was included and impeccably labeled, and the directions were crystal clear and easy to follow. Once completed, the table felt like the most solid piece of furniture you could wish for. Everything aligns precisely and locks firmly into place. The only tools I needed were a screwdriver and the Allen wrench included in the package. I used a palm-sized electric screwdriver that also has Allen screw bits that sped things up considerably.
In putting the unit together, you notice first-rate details, like the rotating cams that lock the back panel firmly into place. Even the little monogramed "Bell'o" medallion that is normally out of sight is beautiful and clearly well-made. The cord organization system is simple, consisting of slots in the back panel and two flexible cable keepers that attach to the back of the unit, but it works well and keeps things neat. Bear in mind that this unit is close to the ground, so despite its excellent design, you will have stoop a bit to get all your cords and wires sorted out.
Our 52" LCD television weighs 67 pounds, and does not cause the slightest visible flex in the top shelf of the unit, which I believe is rated at 120 pounds. It looks absolutely great, its rich veneered wood gleaming sleekly but unostentatiously beneath the television. The tv and the new stand looked so good that we felt the need to paint and decorate the living room a little better just to keep up.
As for the price, once you start looking, you realize that 1) you almost can't find anything this beautiful and well-made in a store to start with, and 2) if you can, it's likely to cost much more. I recently saw something similar, but unquestionably less beautiful, in a Scandanavian / modern type furniture store for almost twice the price. Department stores are worse, and will happily charge you two thousand dollars for anonymously styled particle board.
I don't write a lot of reviews on items I buy from Amazon -- and I don't generally gush like this over consumer purchases. But in this case, I was amazed at how difficult it was to find a decent, functional, well-made example of a product that most Americans need, and for that matter, it's difficult to find ANY furniture that is built right out of quality materials, looks good, functions well, and doesn't cost several thousand dollars.
Bell'o not only covers that in spades, but has that even more hard-to-find quality -- the feeling that someone actually designed and built this item with pride, and with a determination to do a good job. And with *artistry*. Style. Taste. Craftsmanship. These words don't apply to many things the average person can buy anymore. I wish these guys made regular household furniture, because I'd buy a houseful of it. I'd like to shake the hand of the man or woman who designed and built this thing, and then agreed to sell it for such a reasonable price. In lieu of that, I offer my humble five-star review of the "Bell'o WAVS-341."
