(More customer reviews)I was leery ordering this moderately expensive a/v cabinet sight unseen for my new home, but to my amazement it was a perfect fit in both size and beauty. Thick real maple top and bottom panels add warmth and beauty to it's high quality look. It is beyond functional! My 42" Plasma TV fits it like a glove. It hides my components and is the perfect height for viewing the television from the sofa and chairs.
The black glass panel doors allow easy use of the remote control without having to open them.
One surprise was how heavy it is! It takes 2 people to lift it comfortably. It was very well designed for assembly and the instructions were easy to follow. Not a good idea to try to put it together without reading them, however, as it is a bit exacting. All tools needed (including a level) are included. You do need a large space to lay out all of the pieces. Overall I am thrilled with the look, function, and quality of this piece of fine furniture.

(More customer reviews)The Salamander cabinet is an outstanding product. It is large enough to hold oversized components and the finish is beautiful. Solid as a rock. The ventilation panels are terrific, as well. The IFR repeater unit is necessary because of the solid doors, but be very careful with the wiring; dividing the ends to accommodate two components managed to remove the wire covering very easily.
My main concern was with the fit and difficulty of assembly. The screw for one of the legs was very difficult to set in place, and the back panels are very hard to insert. It required extra tools, and a large wrench to get the leverage necessary to turn the screw. Little details, perhaps, but an extra 30 minutes wrestling with three parts was a frustration. Thus, 4 out of 5. I don't look forward to having to remove the back panels for any wiring changes, which inevitably will happen.
Once assembled, though, the product is just what I was looking for. Well desgned for use and it looks great.

(More customer reviews)This Salamander Designs rack is very well made and looks great. It takes a few hours to assemble, but the result is nicer than most home theater furniture out there. Unfortunately, Amazon's shipping (via UPS) didn't go so well and the outer box arrived in very bad shape. I was hoping that the inner box would protect the item, but, alas, one of the two doors was damaged. I'm now trying to get Amazon to replace the door, but they can only exchange the whole unit. The shipping box is completely destroyed, so I've been forced to contact the manufacturer directly. Crossing my fingers...

Techcraft Veneto Series SWP60 TV Stand Review

FedEx was lucky I was in the house when they made the delivery, because for sure, the driver would have a sore back after carrying this fine piece of furniture. It took me I think a little over 2 hours to assemble this item. Everything was perfect when it comes to placing the screws, doors, hinges, etc. Seems like this was perfectly outlined and planned in the factory for consumers to assemble all the pieces together without any glitch. My goodness, when it all came together, it looked like it was made from solid wood. Fine piece of art.
Now for the negative. This is the deciding factor for consumers whether to get it for looks over funtion. When I placed my Pioneer Elite 84 in one of the racks, whoa, I cannot close the door and this piece lacks in depth. For those people with the new huge audio-video receivers,I would say measure them first before buying this piece of furniture. Heads up to all of you guys, depth is a little less than 18 inches.
So, what i did is cut the back thin wood portion to give way for the receivers connections (back of the receiver). Now, I can close it after making some modifications on the back side. Ok, the result after making some modification. If you place this furniture on a wall where people will not see the back side from the sides, you are good. But if the back portion can be seen wherein wire connections are noticeable, you may see a little part of the back portion of the receiver hanging out because of the cutout I made so I can push back the receiver further so I can close the door.
My verdict, I gave this only 3 stars since the company failed to consider the depth of big and huge audio-video equipment. Did I make a bad decision for buying this product, my answer is no. For the price of it, I think I am alright though making some modification. This is a case to case basis for audiophiles wanting all their equipment flawless. For some, this is a good buy, but for others, it may be a pain.
