(More customer reviews)This unit appealed to me for several reasons:
-Enclosed cabinet to minimize dust from settling onto components.
-Large smoked glass doors to view and remote control components.
-Ventilated shelving.
-Slotted shelves and easily removable back panels to facilitate maintenance, cable management and component access.
-Finish, while not an exact match, mostly blends in with existing furniture.
The unit is heavy and seems solidly constructed. While it's not constructed with true solid woods (it has "wood solids" and veneers), I am more than satisfied with the construction quality and finish and the price seems appropriate. I actually ordered the PR-12 model the first time, which I had to return immediately due to the damage it incurred from shipping with FedEx, which despite the hassle, I guess was a good thing, because I decided the PR-11 was a better match anyway. The PR-11 was delivered with the "white glove" service professionally, quickly, and without damage from CEVA. This unit comes in a large box with lots of styrofoam and super-hard cardboard pieces to protect the edges. There were a few very minor spots where some stain was missing and no stain pen was included as reviewers have mentioned for other Bell'o products, so I emailed them requesting one so I can touch it up and make it perfect. But as I said, they are very minor and not in very noticeable spots -- the unit arrived in great shape. You will most likely have to spend some time adjusting the glass doors to align them better than they come out of the box, and as much as I enjoy tinkering with things, I would have preferred these were aligned properly at the factory.
Overall, for a "Made in China" product, this is a great TV cabinet that does not appear or feel cheap in any way and has met all my expectations.
***Update***
My shipment DID come with a touch-up pen. As we were preparing to throw out the shipping box, we found the pen in a small red plastic bag. We also discovered a couple more of the round feet that were loose within all the packing materials, so inspect everything thoroughly before concluding something's missing and tossing out the packaging.
***Update #2***
If you intend to place your center channel speaker in the center shelf behind the built-in speaker screen, you should remove the speaker's own grille if possible, otherwise that center channel audio is making its way through two sets of screens: it's own + the cabinet's. I compared how my center channel speaker sounded with the cabinet's center door open and closed, and with it closed, it definitely sounded different, with a *slight* muffling of the audio clarity when the door is closed. I removed the grille from my Polk Audio center channel speaker and am very satisfied with the overall sound clarity.
