(More customer reviews)The Good: When properly put together, it'd be difficult to tell by sight that it isn't a $2000 piece of handcrafted cabinetry. It looks simply fantastic, and the tabletop has a nice solid feel to it unlike the PCB of the remainder of the construction. Granted it's really nice particle board, but it's still veneered PCB.
The Bad: The storage compartment shelves are glass, which seems an odd choice considering the center shelving is wood. I would have preferred something more solid in there, especially once my toddler finds out that the doors open.
The Ugly: The veneer is very delicate. My left door came horribly scratched and peeled due to rough handling (either in transit or in the warehouse) and the foot of one entire rear corner had come off entirely. In the three days I've owned it, my son has put some deep gashes in the side with a foam&plastic toy car. Make sure you keep some wood glue and a brown marker handy (the marker they supplied me with was bone dry and wouldn't color in the white scratches).

Sanus PFV60 60'' Wide TV Stand (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I shopped for a "plain," nice-looking TV stand for long time. So many stands look too fancy for their own good (read: ugly). This one looks just right and has plenty of space and an ADJUSTABLE middle shelf (rare), so your larger components and center speaker can fit.
I ordered from The Simple TV Stand Store directly rather than through Amazon. The box arrived really bashed up, but the contents were well packed inside and were fine. One corner of the largest piece was dinged, but a little bit of black permanent marker hid the damage. The box also arrived without a manual but I downloaded it from Sanus's web site.
Assembly was terrific. Everything fit without a problem. I did it myself in under an hour with just a screwdriver.
The only real, but minor, quality issues are:
1. When inserting the last two wooden pegs in the top of the stand (to hold the glass top in place), the wood around BOTH peg holes split slightly. The damage is hidden by the glass. This is clearly Sanus's design mistake.
2. The two smallest screw holes (for holding the metal bar in place) were stripped. The screws hold anyway (sort of), and there's a heavy glass top on them, so it's not really a problem.
3. The adjustable glass shelf is a tight fit getting it in. While doing this, the shelf just barely touched the wooden frame and scraped off a square centimeter of black paint, leaving bare wood showing. Again, permanent magic marker hid the damage.
Tip: When installing the feet (step 1), stick some felt pads on the bottoms. That way, the stand slides nicely over your wooden floor without damaging it.
Tip #2: This stand is HEAVY in its box. Don't try to lift the box yourself unless you're a bodybuilder.
Overall I'm satisfied with the quality for the price.
UPDATE 2010-12-10: When I put a receiver and a center speaker on the middle glass shelf, it bows downward a bit, which I don't like/trust.

Bell'O WAVS326 Transitional Styling Audio Video Cabinet in Wood Finish (Carmel Brown) Review

(More customer reviews)After much searching & review reading, I decided on this TV stand/cabinet for my new 46" HD TV.
The stand came almost completely assembled. After figuring out how the rest of the stand went together(by the instructions) it was quite simple. It has a unique fastening/locking system that made it easy to assemble. I was almost able to put it together myself except for 1 step where it was helpful to have a second person. I did have to insert some pieces of wooden matchsticks into a few of the dowel holes because they went too far down into the holes & there neeeded to be enough of the dowel sticking out to attach the other cabinet piece to. I have the option of either using the glass doors or replacing them with the included wood panel inserts. It has a place for a center channel speaker on the top shelf to be hidden behind a fabric grill. My only problem with the grill is I wish it was attached & folded down instead of having to be completely removed. It has magnets on each end & it takes a bit of getting used to pulling it off & putting it back on. Fortunately I don't do this on a regular basis.
It loses 1 star in construction, however because the wood finish is easily scratched or worn off. The company does include a brown marker to touch up any imperfections or damage.
All in all this is an elegant,well constructed,easily assembled,piece of furniture & I would recommend it.

As it turns out there was no reason to worry, it really is a very nice piece of furniture. The wood was really finished nicely and had a nice shine while retaining it's slightly rustic quality. It is solid wood with beautiful finishes (glass inserts, knobs, shelf anchors) and you can see the high quality workmanship that went into this piece. Even the shipping packaging was high quality. Not only was it boxed and padded it was surrounded substantial crate also padded. I am really happy with this purchase.

Sanus Lowboy 65" Black Three-Shelf Widescreen TV Stand Review

(More customer reviews)Purchased this Sanus HDTV stand without considering the rear panel access to my components during hook-up. The quality of materials and construction is heavy-duty and superb, and the finish is a beautiful semi-gloss black. Unfortunately, it was missing the instruction manual, but the design was simple and straight-forward, so I did not need the manual at all. Once I began hooking up my components I designated for this audio/video stand (3 x HK Signature 2.1 power amps, B&K Reference 50 S2 prepro, Sony BDP-1000ES blueray player, Sony DVP NS-9100ES universal player, HK DMC-1000 digital media center, Yamaha DSP-3000 processor, ADC SS-325X spectrum analyzer/equalizer, DBX 3BX DS impact restoration unit, DBX 120X DS subharmonic synthesizer, Musical Fidelity X10 v3 tube buffer, Plus N55 NR unit, and Tice Power Block III Signature Series) I quickly realized that I had not taken into consideration the accessibility to the rear input/output jacks of my components. There are only 4 small rectangular holes through which power cables and signal cables can be routed. If you have a combined digital/analog cable routing as I do with a 13.3 Klipsch speaker system, you might as well forget it. The holes are so small (2.5" x 1") that I can't even fit my hand through it and they could only accomodate a limited number of rca/coaxial/toslink and hdmi cables... which leaves no room to route power cables... and I do not like to have signal cables so close to power cables in the first place. Frankly, this Sanus HDTV stand is beautiful and well-built, but cannot accomodate all my rca, hdmi, coaxial, and optical monster cables I need to route through the back of the stand. Either I am going to have to remove the perforated rear panel somehow, or I am going to have to sell this unit locally since the shipping cost back to the seller will be expensive. If only someone had mentioned this limitation in a review, I would have opted for another stand with an open back. I give an initial review of 3 stars for exceptional build quality that has been severely hampered by rear panel access.

The perforated rear metal panel is so well bonded to the metal frame that no matter how hard or long I pounded on it with a rubber mallet, it did not budge - once again, a testament to the exceptional build quality of Sanus products. I did find a solution that seems to work for the most part: I moved the two lower glass shelves forward by about 1/2" and cleared space for audio/video cables and power cables to be routed through the space. I had to purchase additional rubber feet to be placed in strategic positions on the shelf supporting frames, but because of the way the stand is designed, the support of the glass shelves by the metal frame is still 100% after this change in positioning. I give a revised final rating of 4 stars simply because of the inconvenience of the rear panel access, otherwise, it would be a solid 5 star rating. Sanus could easily improve upon this design by ENLARGING the 4 existing routing holes, as well as adding TWO MORE larger and wider routing holes in the center of the each of two middle shelves to clear space for components in the middle of the shelves. Also, it should be removable for those who opt out of using the perforated rear panel. (Hint, hint. Are you reading this review Sanus?)

PRO Bell'O PR-35 Audio Video Cabinet Review

(More customer reviews)I was a bit hesitant to order a piece of furniture online without ever having seen it in real life but I'm glad I did. After scouring the furniture stores in the St. Louis area, I was unable to find a nice looking, quality piece of furniture that would house all my components, my center channel speaker, game system and TV.
The good looking, well built furniture lacked the capacity and functionality I needed. Those furniture companies seemed to place "form" over "function". The techno-style TV stands, on the other hand, had the capacity and functionality but were quite ugly.
This piece from Bell'O fits my needs perfectly. It's a beautiful, well built unit with more than enough space to house all my AV equipment. It was packaged extremely well and arrived without a blemish. I highly recommend this cabinet and, if all their items are built and designed this nicely, I highly recommend Bell'O as a furniture manufacturer.
