(More customer reviews)I purchased 4 of these in January 2008(two boxes). They are excellent stands for the money. They have a heavy base and are steady. I'm using them for my back and side speakers that weigh 4 pounds each. If your speakers are large and/or weigh more than 4 pounds....you need to look at the Sat2 model. Four pounds is about the max these will hold unless you have some really small cube speakers. One minor inconvenience is that to hide the speaker wire you feed it down the tube. Not up...won't go....has to go DOWN. It was a problem for me because I had to unhook my wire from my home theatre system and feed it down the tube. If you have an existing installation...consider this. It looks great but a simpler way could have been an outside wire channel. Anyway, I HIGHLY Recommend the Omnimount Sat1 speaker stands.
