(More customer reviews)Homestead Media Cabinet - Warm OakI Ordered this in the beginning of March 2010 and received it yesterday...Delivery was Quick! I have been looking at media cabinets on & off for the past year. So I decided to take the plunge.
I wanted an Solid Oak Or Cherry...Heck your paying $250 to $300, I want real wood no particle board piece of crap, you move once and it cracks or breaks plus they weigh a ton.
So my wife calls me to tell me my cabinet is here, I'm semi excited and thought "COOL", went home to take it out of the box to find that I need to assemble this item...That was my first disappointment.
As always the instructions are poor hard to read because the instruction book print was not dark enough. I muddle through to put this $251 item together to find that the locking mechanisms that hold everything together are CHEAPLY made. I broke three of these trying to make sure my cabinet would be sturdy...Of Course there were No extra ones.
So now I will "Guerilla" glue theses areas and place bracket to reinforce these areas, so I can move this cabinet and not worry that it will fall apart.
My BIGGEST disappointment is that the inside bottom panel doesn't completely line up with the outside base...It is ONLY noticeable from the inside, but still I paid good money for this.
The Only POSITVES are "It looks nice when finished" and the quick delivery. Other than that, I would stay away unless would like to improve your carpentry skills.
