(More customer reviews)After checking countless websites and looking at tens of fireplaces, I decided on the SEI Raphael Gel Fuel Fireplace. I chose ivory so it would kind of blend in with my walls. The end result is stunning--I hope to upload a picture (once I learn how to do that). It is sturdy, beautiful and looks like it was made for the room!
The fireplace arrived in 2 boxes--one very heavy. Assembling it seemed like a daunting task--especially when following the directions that came with it. Since I was here by myself (and no one would be available to help until the next day--and hey, who wants to wait!) it seemed like an impossible task.
Then, after studying the illustrations for a bit, I had a light-bulb moment and decided to reverse the order of the directions. I started by placing the bottom part near where I wanted it and put 4 wash cloths under the corners so it would slide easily on my hardwood floors. I assembled the sides to the bottom--then added the 2 lower front panels, then the upper front panel, fastening and screwing in each piece as I went. Then all that was left was the mantle, which was easy too. Doing it that way made it possible for me (a 64 year old woman) to assemble the whole thing in about an hour by myself! Frankly, doing it the way the directions suggest would make it a real pain even with 2 or 3 people.
I ordered the fireplace on Tuesday, it was shipped the next day, and arrived on Friday--all in the same week! It was shipped free with Amazon's super-saver. Amazing Amazon did it again! I love my new fireplace, but since the fuel cans were shipped a day later I have not actually had a fire yet. By the way--the log looks very realistic--and it comes with a bag of loose "embers" to give it an even more realistic look! It's a winner!!
