(More customer reviews)Recently purchased this TV stand and just assembled it today; had unpacked it a couple weeks ago but had to wait with assembly. At the time I gave each piece a quick cursory once-over but being pressed for time did not go over the pieces with a fine tooth comb. My mistake! Upon assembling the product today I found a lower end shelf with a dinged corner and also a very sizable blotch in the staining but since the stain blemish is on the back of the shelf and the end of the stand will be toward the back of our room I felt we could live with it; not worth packing up this whole thing and trying to make an exchange. Then when I got to the top of the cabinet I discovered there were small pinhead-sized splatters of a non-matching stain (more than 50) across the top. The worst example of no quality control, however, is a group of 21 punctures in one area and 31 in another area on the top, such as would have come from the tip of a nail penetrating the top panel. This would have taken place before the finishing process as they contained stain & varnish; would not have been that way if this had happened after the finishing process. A number of people would have been working with and handling these materials and then there should have been some final inspection before packaging but obviously there was none. Out carton and all packaging were in fine condition so none of this transpired in shipment or after I received it. We are willing to accept part of this as our carelessnes in not more carefully looking at each and every piece upon receipt but past experience with other manufacturers of similar products has always been excellent; we grew lax, I guess. The point is, while the product is decent to assemble and has favorable design features, overall quality control is definitely lacking. We have chosen to keep the TV stand rather than deal with returns/refunds, etc. plus I always make use of glue when assembling one of these assemble-it-yourself projects as it makes the product more sturdy for the years of use went intend to use it. I won't buy another product of this brand (Leick Furniture, Sheboygan, WI) in the future or from this seller. The blemishes we've chosen to accept can be covered but we paid full price for a less-than-perfect product which should have never left the factor in the condition it did.
