Worst product I've bought from Amazon.
Pros: Good brand, looks great in picture, size specified was perfect for my needs.
Cons:
1. Poor quality. Pure particleboard and coarse board at that, very rough edges. Guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on your carpeting. If you slide it, will surely take some carpeting with it.
2. Dimensions are misrepresented. It's supposed to be 19.5 inches deep; I needed 15+ inches for my 27" Sony dinosaur. In reality it's 14" deep. 3 inches are wasted at the front because of a piece of molding they have you screw on. 3 inches at the rear of the top are pure overhang and are not supported by the stand.
3. Upon completing the lengthy process of assembling this monstrosity, it was very rickety. It would readily move side to side. In the instructions they tell you that it won't be stable until you nail a supplied piece of cardboard material to the back. 25 nails later, it was definitely reasonably stable. However, that flimsy piece of cardboard doesn't inspire confidence.
The bottom line is for me to now decide what to do with it. Can't send it back; it's assembled. Don't want to put it out for the trash. My son has a much lighter 20" TV but doesn't want it. I can't really convince myself to use it because my Sony requires a stand that will bear its enormous 99.8 pounds. This thing is rated at 135 pounds but that's most optimistic. Doesn't much matter though since the depth of my Sony's base is 15+ inches and Sauder fibbed about the true depth of this product.
If you like Sauder and have 3-5 hours to kill, you might try this item for its modest price. You'll probably be fine if you place a 30 pound HDTV on it, or a microwave, but please don't get too ambitious.
There ... now I feel better.
